Roosters Flukin 5-29
« on: May 29, 2010, 05:07:15 PM »
Tom and I had the Roosters out this morning for the first day of Fluke season. The rain was not too heavy but enough to keep us close to our slip at Atlantic Highlands Marina. As it is, our favorite Fluking grounds are in the South East corner of Sandy hook Bay. With high tide at about 10AM, that gave us enough time to land four keeper Fluke before the bite died off. Tom had the first three keepers up to 21½". I followed with one at 20". There were plenty of shorts caught, some as small as 10", plus all the Sea Robins we could use for bait. The bigger fish seemed to like Sea Robin strips best. There were no yellow-eyed demons around and no other fish caught. Pete
