05/30 Flatties
« on: May 31, 2010, 09:48:23 AM »
Headed out of Keyport with very little traffic at the ramp and on the water at about 9am with the gf and my stepmother.  Ran out to the 11a and started drifting along the southern edge of the channel.  Nothing biting, so I jumped down to the Keansburg hole.  Alot more traffic around there and managed 1 short.  My gf was feeling the effects of our night out the night before so I headed west to Cliffwood for calmer waters to eat lunch and relax a bit.  Finally headed back to the 11a and drifted the southern edge again and the bite was on.  Boated 3 keepers up to 22" and a bunch of shorts.  Was bounching bucktails with a 4" Gulp mullet.

By the time I headed back around 2:30 the traffic was ridiculous.  Sure enough at the ramp there was a group of dumb dumbs with Jet Fleas and a giant inflatable sofa looking thing taking up both slots and gearing up on the ramp, pissing off alot of people..including me.  They had no idea how to launch their ski's and wouldn't listen to anyone offering help or assistance.  They also couldn't grasp that they were completely tying up the ramp at both ends for people launching and leaving.  Ugh....

There was also a huge old 35-40' cruiser that looked like it hadn't run in 10 years getting dropped in at low tide right after I pulled out.  It was just about dead low tide and it just seemed highly unlikely that this thing was geting in.  The last I heard was the outdrive was grounded on the  bottom in the full up position and the boat about halfway off the trailer.  Gotta love Memorial day weekend.

Lastly, to all the men and women out the who have served or are currently serving our armed forces please accept my thanks and appreciation for all of your sacrifices.   t^
