Irish Ayes Opening Day Fluke - Slow Day 5-29-10
« on: May 29, 2010, 06:45:56 PM »
Left the dock with the intention of finding bunker, then bass and then fluke. Was accompanied by Andy and Ed.

Completed objective number one right out of the chute. Snagged a couple dozen bunker and motored off to several striper hangouts. The bass were on vacation as their hangouts we visited were void of bass.

Moved to the Sea Girt reef and sent some rigs to the ocean floor for fluke. I put a spro on the bottom with a bunker strip bait and had a bucktail teaser with gulp belly strip above the spro. Was bouncing it off the bottom and enticed a 22 3/4" fluke into biting the teaser. First keeper of the 2010 fluke season in the box. Shortly thereafter Andy pulled in a short fluke and released it.

Only other action was a small blue fish, several skates and some doggies.

Slow day of catching. No bass but no skunk either. Will try again tomorrow.

Weird bite today.  Had 20 swing-and-misses until I finally hooked a short.  thud

Heard some pretty slow reports from a few boats fishing oceanside for fluke.  Atleast they didnt have to play bumper boats at the Hook cfzd
