Hammered the CARP today (pics)
« on: June 20, 2010, 12:00:05 PM »
Well, Carp on again. I fished North Cove once again this morning from 915 to 10 50. Had half a bag a corn with me, and my 2 small trout rods again. Threw a handful out, threw my 2 lines out, opened the bails, laid them down and the waiting game began.

Not too long before the first line took off, maybe 5 minutes into waiting. Landed 3-4 pounder. Few minutes later landed another 3-4 pounder. About 20 minutes later, my one rod went... Set the hook, was fighting him. Then my other rod went! 2 on at once, and this happened twice today.. and let me know you what a pain in the ass that is to have 2 carp on 2 different rods at one time. I had to open the bail of the one, tire the other out, and go back and forth until 1 snapped my line at land, and then I landed the other. The one that snapped my line was my biggest, I have to say it was 8-9 pound, 26 inches long.

While I was there, I noticed on the other side of the cove.... There was a guy with a crossbow shooting at carp.... I thought this only happened in foriegn countries? Is he honestly shooting carp with a bow and reeling them in, here in Wayne NJ? Cant he just go to Shoprite and buy a pre-breaded Tilapia fillet for $2.09? I dont get it.

Anyway, it got way to hot out and I left after around an hour and a half of fishing.

Final Tally : Landed 8 carp, had about 13 carp run offs (not striper  rgmn), and biggest probably went 8 1/2 pounds.

Now I'm home marinating uncooked shrimp in my favorite grilled shrimp recipe (soy sauce - brown sugar - minced garlic) and making home made mussels marinara, man what a pain to clean all those mussels one by one. Here I have a pic of the marinara too and cant forget some beer with that clp

NIce day out Mark.  t^

If you think it's hard cleaning mussels one by one you should try cracking open the fish eggs to make fried roe.  ;D  cfzd
