What size minnows are the best size?
You want to match the size of your bait to what you are fishing for.. For Stripers, full grown 1-2lb -adult Bunkers are not too big.. You can catch alot of Fluke with small baits like Killies, and spearing and the little stuff you catch in a trap.. but with the larger size limits these days, I like bigger baits like Peanut (juvenile) Bunker, or snapper Bluefish for flatties... Get yourself a cast net, and learn to throw it, and you'll save a lot of $$ at the bait shops..A cast net is best for catching peanuts.. Snapper blues can also be caught by jigging small metals and/or Sabiki rigs.. just remember they are still Bluefish and must be counted toward the daily creel limit.
