Barnegat Bay 6/24
« on: June 24, 2010, 11:30:16 PM »
Had my Uncle and his father aboard today along with my cousin.  We left the marina about 6am and immediately got into blues in the channel.  Once that died down we switched to flukin'  landed about 25 with 2 keepers-18 on the money and 19.5.

Good day-I was glad to see them catch t^

Being Cpt and mate for 3 guys I didn't get a chance to snap any photos-they kept me busy all day!

On a side note-how the hell do you fillet a fluke?? 5hrug

I butchered the hell out of it rgmn

Nice job on the few keepers... Everyone fillets them differently, I personally get 4 fillets out of each fish, ill cut around its neck then a slit down the center of its body, and ill work out 2 fillets on each side.... But I'm no pro... You WILL get some good filleting tips on hear ill tell ya that though...
Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.

Nice catch. On the filleting let Dexter Russel help you out next time ;). Look for a good knife with high carbon and some flex that will be easy to put a sharp edge on. It can make a world of differnce.

Thanks for the filleting tips!

They seemed to prefer the green Gulp bucktails.  I had squid which didn't produce at all 5hrug  We used standard fluke rigs
