Shark River Ramp
« on: June 22, 2010, 01:16:38 PM »
Hi all, I can’t take the municipal ramp at Belmar anymore. rgmn Hour wait to get in, hour wait to get out. Countless amateurs blocking the way, cutting in line, boats that won’t start. 5hrug No floating dock. Too many opportunities for confrontations. I’m thinking of switching to Bry’s as there seems at lot less traffic and the users more experienced.  I have a 21’ boat with bunk trailer and I’m concerned about enough water near low tide. Any advice/suggestions on this?

Thanks.

I have a roller trailer and have been using Bry's for years.  Most of the time you will have enough water but on a really low tide you will have problems.  The ramp consists of two large concrete slabs that go into the water.  At the end of the slabs there is a considerable dropoff so you do not want to go over it.  Once last summer there was a guy with 25 ft boat and a bunk trailer waiting for the tide because he cold not get the boat on the trailer.  If you have been using the municipal ramp I don't think you will have any real problems at Bry's.  There is also a ramp in the back at the river in Shark River Hills.  I have not been there in several years but I remember it as being narrow and quite shallow.

Thanks Sealife. The municipal ramp has a low angle to it, never really needed to chock the wheels. Do you recommend chocking at Bry's?

Be very carefull at Bry's. You can back right off at low water. You can lose the car and trailer as there is deep water at the end of the ramp. You must chock the wheels. You'll need a partner to make sure you don't back down too far at low tide.
