how close to the mark

 we like to leave room for good comfort and ease of mind with out worrying when we pull back into the dock. for us, generally 1/4-1/2 inch over the mark is a keeper,, never anything dead on the mark.

 was wondering how many other folks out there do it.

I was told by a co.   That the fish actualy grows by about a quarter inch when the musles relax.   I had a couple one they were checking and I said. They were right on and probably shrunk.   He told me this and the fish were 1/4" longer than when I caught them.  

But for me. They have to be right on the money

Slightly over for me.... a little piece of mind back at the dock is a good thing...

That's pretty cool Rod that they grow a 1/4 inch...did not know that

I add at least an eight of an inch and usually better for it to keep. If a fluke measures eighteen inches on my board it is actually an eighteen and an eight inch fish.

I also have a label I put on my measuring board that reads, "If you have to ask, it's too short".
