First FTYP fluke of the season. Had Bob Schlink, his buddies Jim and Bruce, as well as Al D, and John Toth and Jim Zimmer of the Bergen County Saltwater anglers.
Ran north again into a crisp NNW wind. Made a drop in 50' off LB, nothing going on. So we ran in on the beach further north and again fished the Sea Bright - Monmouth Beach stretch. More short action today, just not many keepers in there. We did put a few keeper seabass in the boat.
Once the wind slacked off we worked our way offshore, picking away at a few short fluke and mixed size seabass. We were able to box a couple nice fluke off the beach, but that was short lived. Bruce did nail a nice 22"/3.5#er out there.
We then ran back inshore when that dried up, found more shorts on a lump, and then went back to fishing some rocks only to find some more shorts, a few more seabass, ling, and a nice big silver eel.
Finished the day in on the beach again, no more bites in the surprise S wind. We wound up with maybe 30 fluke boated, only a few going in the box, plus a dozen nice seabass for the guys, as well as the ling and the silver eel. Overally it was another slow day - hard N current running down the beach really dirtied the water, and made things tough. Seemed to shut the fish off. Hopefully it continues. Back at it the next 3 days.
