Sandy Hook boat ramp - bay fishing
« on: July 01, 2010, 06:55:34 PM »
Alright for you atlantic highlands goers... Me, my dad, my step brother, and buddy are thinking of taking my dads boat out saturday. He has a 17' Lund Rebel. We've used it in freshwater only so far, twice. We are thinkin about going out of atlantic highlands ... I'm sure the water is deep enough there, but I know this boat has a deeeep V shape. Would this boat be ok fishing in the bay area there? Perhaps the ocean? How's the fishing going specifically for fluke in that general area...? I don't think I've ever seen a Lund boat like this out in the ocean, but I've sure seen some tiny boats put there (12-13 footers). Thanks for the help!

Watch the weather and you should be ok.

The ramp there can be very slippery so use wheel chocks.

Also might be pretty crowded with the holiday.

Keyport Municipal ramp is ok too. Its Back in the bay so waves are calm.

I would be careful of the rocks. It can be a long ride home if the wind kicks up especially if the wind is against the tide at the rips.

Keyport doesn't sound bad... Any news on how the fishing has been in the bay that area?
