Lake Erie Buffalo report - 6/11
« on: June 11, 2010, 08:55:42 PM »
Met Capt Barry Schultz at 6:30 am at the Buffalo small Boat harbor. He launched his 19' Alumacraft and we were on our way the tangle with some bronzebacks!

It was an overcast morning with a little bit of a breeze. Accoring to Capt. Barry, a decent breeze gets 'em snapping so hopes were high.

We used live bait most of the time on a 3 way rig and aboout a 1/4 oz weight in 25' - 30' of water. Used a dropt shot rig with Gulp also. We made short drifts controlled with the trolling motor over isolated rough spots and rockpiles. The fishing program is a lot like fluke fishing so I was in my element.

According to Capt. Barry the fihing was slow but I'm not going to complain. I caught about a dozen smallies including 2 in the 5lb class...personal bests for me by far. We also caught some gigantic (by my standards) yellow perch and some sheepshead.

All in all a great trip which I hope to repeat soon!

Will post pics tomorrow.

Here's a pic of the 4.8. My camera batteries died so I'm waiting to be e-mailed a pic of the other big one.

Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.
