Pilot - Fluke with SproMeister & son Jared 8/1
« on: August 01, 2010, 02:34:25 PM »
Called the Silent Assassin saturday morning to see he wanted to sneak out for a half day flukin on Sunday morning.  Looked like the storms coming in were going to skirt us in the AM but all bets were off for later in the day.  Jeff calls me back says he's a go and could he bring his 8 yr old son Jared.  Heck yeah!  This is the kids first time out.  Let's give it a whirl met you at the dock at 5:30.   We push off to flat calm water with an incoming and light E wind.   On the Ambrose by 6:15 with no one else in sight.   Chartruese teaser & Salted peanuts (care of Donnie - thanks brother) 6 oz lead, lifes good!   Action right away.  Jared's the first to connect.  The kid is grinning ear to ear,  Silent Assassin strikes next another short.  Jared again.  I'm pulling the skunk (think it was the banana in the car --- I like to test fate and starting to believe).  Spromeister bangs two nice boxers in a row.   My stick is finally getting jiggy and put a 20" in the box.  The action continues.  Jared jacks up a keeper.  The action started to get spotty as incoming started to move with more wind.  The little guy puts the rod down and turns to a sandwich thinking he was hungry UH OH  nosmly  next thing you know he's pitching chunks over the side.   Wow.  Can't believe he turned like that in no time.   We finished the drift, pulled lines and started motoring in while major cloud cover and thunder storms worked Staten Island/NY skyscrape.   Back at the dock by 10:30.... the kid was like nothing happened.   His dad pings me as I'm writing this and says Jared is ready to go out again.   A real champ. The kid has game!   Check out the grin.

Good day with Jeff and his son. 30 fish and 4 to filet for home t^

Till next time.

Great trip!  Remember, the banana curse begins the moment that the boating "outing" takes place.  This means the ride to the boat, loading the boat, preparing for the trip, and then on the way home as well.  Bananas are bad bad juju man!   rofla
The cure for everything is salt water: sweat, tears, and the sea.
