Was able to get out for a couple of hours to go surf fishing this evening. Hit 23rd Ave in SSP around 5:45 PM and started working south into IBSP. Wind was still out of the East around 10 MPH, surf was high 3-4 feet with some 5+ footers in the mix, moderate undertow, water was rough, but very fishable. Water actually looked very "fishy" and although it was outgoing tide, tide was very high from the East Winds. Moderate amount of people fishing. Most were dead sticking and I passed a couple guys plugging who said they hadn't had any luck at all this week. Worked all the structure with AVA's, Deadly Dicks, T-HEX, Hopkins, and my Gibbs Casting Swimmer(aka a bottle plug, worked it on the top and made it dive) with nothing. Although, I wasn't completely skunked, I managed to foul hook a sand crab.
Water was full of jelly fish(I think?) that really kept fouling the line. I got fouled about 10 times, 5 of the times the jelly fish were so thick and full of sand that I just gave up trying to get them off. It was easier to cut the line and retie.
Kept fishing until 8:00 PM or so and made my way off the beach. Great night, great couple of hours and happy to get out fishing!
