can u help me?
« on: October 20, 2010, 06:57:46 PM »
I have a bottom line fishfinder I can't figure out how to mount the transducer its shaped like an ovalish octagan and the mountig brakets are two L's with two holes on each side of the bracket I can't figure out how the connect please help
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Al,

It might be helpful if you can post a pic of the bracket and transducer.  I don't think this should be too difficult for some of our members here to figure out for you. t^

Does it look similar to this? Remember not to tighten the bolt that holds the transducer to the brackets too tight. It needs to be firm  needs to be able to "kick up" in the event it strikes an object. This prevents the transducer and bracket from damage. The screws or bolts holding the brackets to the transom need to be sealed with 5200 or the equivalent, and be tight, or it will leak/fall off.  <'((((><

Actually, I'd recommend using 4200.  4200 will do the job just as well and if he ever upgrades he can take this one off with some elbow grease.  If he seals it with 5200 it will become a permanent fixture to the boat.   chrz

I use it to seal screws, bolts, etc not actually as a glue. Just a few dabs and it's sealed. I do prefer 5200 over 4200 for the faster curing time, both are pretty tough. I know a guy who uses silicone on everything,  but I like something stronger for use below the waterline.

I also use 5200. I have changed transducers at least a half dozen times on my boat and the 5200 is not as 'permanent' as it is claimed to be. As FishinDude said, for this purpose it is more of a sealer than a glue.

You probable can't go wrong using either of the two.
