Headed out for our mixed bag trip today... Since seabass is closed we planned to take advantage of the early jigging bite then off for some bottom fishing. Today's Crew was Chris Iroc, Bill, Tony Lovehislabs, Ralphy, Bruce and Mr Bob Bates!!!
Left a little before first light in the rain, ocean was nice and flat.
Got to the jigging grounds and seen some scattered bird play... didnt even get to them and was in acres of incredible readings. Was all by ourselves opting to not chase the bird play... just fished on readings.
Didnt take long and we were hooked up with mutiple stripers with some blues mixed in... Mostly all keepers... Next Bob Bates rod is bent and peeling line and a nice 31lber to the Net. Couple of drifts and we were boxed up with a limit. Threw back a few more fish and we were off to the bottom grounds.
Got set up in shallow water and we had a pick of porgies... bergall and small seabass made it tough but we picked away at some real nice porgies. went to another drop... short blackfish and only a couple of porgies... next stop we picked at big porgies putting a good #in the box!!!
Made a Blackfish Drop on the way in... bite was slow and scratchy but managed everyones 1 Fish, threw back a couple more keepers and a bunch of shorts.
By Day end the guys kept a Limit of 12 Stripers to 31lbs, 76 porgies, 6 Blackfish and a few Bluefish!!!!!!
