Crabbing Barnegat Bay
« on: August 10, 2007, 11:01:39 PM »
Big crabs can still be caught despite the last molting during the early august full moon. The report concerns the area around the Mathis and Tunney Bridges into Seaside Heights.
Crab traps don't work as well for catching the big ones as well as drop lines and a scoop net. But crab traps seem to help in the chumming process so bring one or two for the front of your boat while anchored. Here's a tip that seems to work. Tie in an open can of catfood to the trap through two holes cut with a beer can opener.Fancy feast anyone?
Boats are available at the foot of Kearney ave in Seaside Heights for as little as $78.50.
Reasonable equipment rentals are available as well. For more info call 732-830-1882.

Hi Seabreeze,

Glad you made it aboard.  I hope you enjoy the site as it can get quite addicting.  Tell Steve I said hello.  I know crabbing is in over at your place but don't forget to give us the in on the fishing in and around the  piers.

Thanks for logging in and passing your information along.

Happy Catching

Paul
