3 Days on the Irish Ayes 11/1-11/3
« on: November 03, 2010, 06:11:30 PM »
I'm on vacation this week.  So, after doing the Jack O' Lantern carving, Halloween party and Trick or Treating thing over the weekend, I took a few days for myself to do some fishing with my good friend Joe and a few other friends over the past few days.

Monday morning was pretty cold as Joe, Capt. Mike, Johnny Oz, Tim and myself left the inlet.  Outside we were greeted by north west winds and a choppy ocean.  Headed south in search of stripers and blues.  Stripers were scarce, but we did manage to put one in the box.  The bluefish were scattered in small schools.  We spent the morning running and gunning to jig up some gators.

When the action slowed we headed north to anchor up for some tog.  It was a slow pick, but we were able to box 3 keepers.

Highlight of the day was seeing saltwater rookie Tim catch his first bluefish! t^

Day two, we decided to leave the crabs at the dock and chase birds all day.  Tuesday's crew consisted of Capt. Mike, Dave and myself.  It was pretty much the same story as the previous day.  Big blues and a single striper made it to the box thanks to Mike's expert butterfly jigging technique. ;D

Day three we had more of the same as Bob G joined Joe and myself for some jigging.  Warmer temps and calm seas were a welcome change.  Bob had the hot hand landing our only keeper striper and a fat bonito!

It was great getting out and fishing with a terrific bunch of guys over the past few days!  Thanks again for having me aboard Joe! t^  Sorry to see the season quickly coming to a close.  It seems like only yesterday we were talking about the start of the spring run.  :-\

We had some fun trips and a lot of busting going on.

Fishing wasn't the greatest but it wasn't a bust either. Some filets for the table and lots of pulling by the blues.  t^

Too bad the Stripers are not biting like they did in the spring. I keep hearing of sparatric action from time to time but nothing consistant. The report sounds like a nice time. You guys are a good time to fish with! t^
