a New Jersey-based fishing boat was last seen early this morning.

BOSTON — The Coast Guard is searching for a New Jersey-based fishing boat and its four-person crew after receiving an alert from the boat's emergency beacon off Massachusetts.

The Coast Guard has determined that the last known position of the "Retriever" was about six or seven miles off the coast of Rockport about 4:20 a.m. on Monday.

Officials have been unable to raise the crew by phone, radio or e-mail since the alert was received.

Coast Guard Petty Officer Connie Terrell says a helicopter, a Falcon jet, three cutters and two small boats have been sent to the area.

Terrell says weather is a problem in the area with 25-30 knot winds and 15-foot seas.

The Retriever's home port is listed as Cape May.

News is the epirb was set off my accident because of the weather. Boat's generator went down and caused poor communications. All is supposedly well with the boat and crew.  t^

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.
