Very Lucky boater
« on: October 10, 2010, 09:22:55 PM »
Witnessed a CG rescue of a lone boater who was powerless right at the mouth of the Squan Inlet on Friday. I was fishing the wall on the Point Pleasant side when I noticed a boat anchored in the mouth of the inlet.
Kudos also goes to the yacht that took up a position behind the boat to keep boat traffic away from him.
Took the CG about 10 minutes to arrive and put him in tow.
Good things come to those who bait

Builds and repairs rods if needed

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.

Nice to see he was smart enough to throw the anchor as opposed to ending up on the rocks. Hats off to our Coast Guard in assisting when help was needed.  TT^  <'((((><

Judging by his position relative to his anchor, it looks like the current would have taken him away from the inlet, in which case it might not have been a bad idea to drift out a bit before anchoring a little further away from a high traffic area IMO.  I could be wrong, just glad no injuries or accidents though.
The cure for everything is salt water: sweat, tears, and the sea.
