Anyone install their own trim tabs?
« on: July 15, 2007, 05:31:18 PM »
I am thinking of going with electrics (not much to no room for hydraulic tanks in bilge) and wondering if anyone has instaled their own.
I really don't want to pay my marina to do it and was wondering if it was something I could do on my own or pay someone a few $$$ to help me do it over minter or spring.

Hi Mboy,

Why do you think you need trim tabs for your boat?

Is there hydrolic steering on the boat?

What was the make again?

When I bought my 20 ft. CC a long time ago, I ran to a local mechanic to get them installed. I thank him to this day for saving me the money.

Ed

I have a 21' Sea Boss CC with Johnson 175 2 stroke.

Fairly light boat (2200lbs).

No doubt need tabs.

Boat lists to port even with 2 people on starboard side (wife and son) on plane (and certainly with a quarteing sea).
I would also like to bring the bow down without having to trim my egnine al the way down, but most definitly need it to even out side to side (and not worry about where people wnt to sit or stand under power.

I have been on boats for 30 years and know the difference trim tabs make and my boat needs them for sure :)

My father has had them on all his boats and I can't get mine to run the way I want like I can his in the differing sea conditions (and weight loads).

Oh yes, I have seastar hydrualic steering on the boat.
