Hitting the beach tomorrow
« on: February 25, 2011, 09:38:30 PM »
I'm so not the best fisherman but I am so itching to hit the beach. Would it be worth it for me to go surf fishing tomorrow morning?

if you plan on going out front (ocean) for bass then I would say NO it's not worth it. I would suggest you do some scouting on the bayside i.e. sod banks ;)

Just remember to just look out back, the season does not start till Tuesday back there.

Going to the beach this time of year is always an iffy thing.  If you do go I would suggest using small hooks in a hi lo rig and small pieces of salted clams if you can find them.

Keep in the back of your mind that the white perch will be starting soon in the Toms River. It is always good to try them this time of year as well.  Again small hooks and worms is a good choice here. Murphies Hookhouse is a good place to get the worms this time of year. They are on rt 37 just before Fischer Blvd.

Happy Catching
