2010 - 2011 Kayak Fishing
« on: February 08, 2011, 05:44:12 PM »
Our 2010 kayak season came to a close fast with frozen water around December 12th...... This was sad because we had such a good body of fish holding inside the bay...

Being March is only a couple weeks away.... I thought it would be a good time to start to get things in order for the spring run ......

I will be sure to keep you all up to date with the spring reports.....

Stay warm.......

Hi Dave, boy am I looking forward to this year.  It seems like winter has been here forever.  The Yack is all ready and the only thing I will be adding to it this year will be rechargeable battery for the fish finder.  I am tired replacing batteries.

C'mon Spring.

Happy Catching

Paul

I use the Lowrance X5r.  It came as a package that Hobie had when I purchased the kayak.  It seems to work pretty good and it is waterproof as I have gone over a few times and it still keeps on working.

I am looking to change out the small batteries and go to a rechargeable one that Cabelas has.  For 49 bucks you get 2 batteries and the charger.

The FF is real nice for locating holes especially along the sedge islands.  You would be amazed to see how deep some of the cuts are along the islands.

Mine will be 3 years old and I put it thching

PAulrough hell before I put outriggers on to stabilize the yak a bit more.

Now  it is smooth sailing and fear of tipping over is pretty much gone.

I might even take out the cameras this year, I'll see.

Happy Catching

I would find a cheap water Prof fish/depth finder.... The reason I say this is 99% of the time your going to use it to find deep water or holes....The Kayak could be in a foot of water and you would never now it with out the use of the depth finder...

I paid $75.00 for mine and had it now for years and its still as good as the day I put it in.

So after you find out what your going to get... then make up your mind what would be a good place to mount it so its out of your way.

If you need help with that let me know and I will walk you through..... its easy....

Hope this helps some........ slt
