I agree with fish bucket, use small pieces of salted clams on 2/0 hooks in a hi - lo configuration and dead stick and spend time in a nice warm vehicle.  That is if you are driving on.  If not, good luck.

Well between the cold and the winter projects it will be a while before I get to get back onto the sand once again.  I am going nuts but that's okay as I have not yet picked up my beach buggie pass yet.

Hey conedoggy i am from lancaster PA and i like to surf fish down in cape may NJ only luck i had there was sand sharks/dogfish. a few skates. no striper luck ever. i spend a few hundred last yr on sacks of clams and no luck. but your i the pa area, so i wanted to let u kno that u can catch stripers at the conowingo river. 222 south till u hit route 1 take a right go over the route 1 bridge take the first left follow till u see the left turn will be a fishermans sign on the left take that left down to the conowingo follow up to the damn. buy some white ice minnows 2 oz inlines 30lb leader line catch em. catch and release now till may keep only one till june then its two 18 inch or better. my biggest there last yr was 44 inch. not bad. this yr will be better. always welcome to come along. anyway good luck this yr everyone!!!

my wife grew up on Hamilton Ave about 2 blocks from the school nee Agabiti. We live in what they call Groveville Heights or Gardens...something like that. Two blocks in from main st and south broad. Do you hit the surf or just the boat?

I agree TBJ !!!! Soon !!!!! The bays are usually the first place to look for early stripers. The shallower areas inside warm up first and the bass will be more active.

well i went last night got to island beach around 330 a.m. fished till about 9 a.m. and walked around till 3 ish and drove home....keep in mind i am new to this ocean fishing.. but i thought it was very odd to see thousands of dead crabs along the shore.this time of year.. is this common?...they looked like small hardshells....anyone know...

hello all iam thinking about taking a trip down to LBI to do some surf fishing around march 21st
 is there anywhere special i sould go when iam down there to fish and is clams still the bait of choice

stay in the back. we will not see fish out front till April unless the water warms up sooner than that. pay attention to the temps.

If you are using bait stay with fresh clams and worms

Remember that they're many factors to consider. Pay attention to the reports and water temps. I can only give you my opinion and that is; I would definitely come down and fish especially towards the end of March but not out front (ocean). Unless the water temp is up and/or you are hearing reports that the fish are there. Otherwise, stay in the back shallow waters. The bays should just be starting to heat up around the time you plan on coming down.

ideally, 50 degrees or better....not saying they don't bite in colder weather because they do... just not as aggressively.
