Removing woodruff key
« on: April 11, 2011, 01:02:38 PM »
Removing the key from the water pump shaft. Well that was froze in. Rather than trying to beat it out I used my Dremel  with a cut off wheel. I cut a slot down the length of it. Squeezed it together with pliers. Cut it again then squeezed again. Just about fell out. Little info incase you run into the same issue.  slt

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.

The Dremel, I love those things. Nice trick to keep in mind. I usally use a pointed punch to get the woodruff key out. With the lower unit locked straight up in the work mate, it's not  bad on the shaft at all. A little dab of grease on the new one when it's installed, assists when it's time for removal. <'((((><
