Hi All,
If anyone is thinking about a day at the beach, today and tomorrow may present good opportunities.
With the Nor'easters, come opportunities for dunking clams. The wave action from the storms tumble, crack and open the clams from the beds and push them up on the beach. It is an easy meal for any lazy Striped Bass (Striper) to have to indulge in.
Hot spots that I fish are at Sandy Hook near the clam beds; Pt. Pleasant Beach and Manasquan in the "pockets", especially in the north pocket of the Manasquan Inlet; Island Beach State Park (Gillikens down to the north pocket).
I go to an area and look for clams that have washed up and fish that area.
Please remember that you need a clamming license to take or possess the clams lying on the beach.
Clamming licenses can be bought at our Sponsor, Pell's, on Mantoloking Road in Brick.
