St. Maarten Inshore Update - 4/10
« on: April 13, 2011, 07:41:49 AM »
Spain has "The running of the Bulls" St. Maarten has "The running of the Tarpon."

The past month has had some stellar tarpon fishing here on St. Maarten. Clients that have had the oppurtunity to fish the afternoons have been treated to on average of 15 tarpon hookups with some fish reaching 100 lbs.

Some days are definitely better than others but no party in the past month have gone home without landing atleast one Tarpon.

The snook seem to have lockjaw although there have been a few smaller fish, 4-6 lbs, being taken sporadically. No, cows yet.

Large Jack Crevalle, to 20+ lbs, are roaming the beaches for the brave of heart.

Thanks for the report Rich.  Man maybe one day.  I have been tying a fly that works well up here and I bet would kill those tarpon down there.  It is made with white saddle feathers and red marabou.  I use a 2/0 hook and have been having fun catching bass up here with it.
