The alarm went off at 1:30am for a OB trip in Cape May. picked up my nephew Eric to join me on the trip and we headed down the GSP.
Dock ines went off at 6am and we headed up the bay to chunk bunker. The first stop produced some sporadic light hits. The Capt hooked one and let my nephew fight it in.
After about an hour we moved about 200 yards to an area where bunker were flipping. It was fast and furious for about an hour with lots of hits and some hookups. Everyone had at leat 1 hookup. They were picking it up and dropping it so hooking up was difficult. We noticed that most successful hookups were coming when the rods were in the holder so in the holders they went. It slowed to a decent pick and we wound up 2 short of a boat limit. If we had even half of the missed hits and dropped fish, we would have had limits plus.
All in all a great day in my book with a fun crew and a great Capt. Long day though and the traffic on the GSP was horrendous....
