5/20 Voyager Codfishing
« on: May 20, 2011, 06:32:17 PM »

Went out on the Voyager today with a pretty good crowd. Wound up with lots of action, some nice fish and lots of doggies and pout. I had 6 cod and a pollack. Pollack was between 19 and 20lbs caught while squidding a diamond jig on a rather light outfit. One of my cod was around 13lbs and the others were all the 23"-25" variety. Pool was a beautiful 30lb pollack and I saw a 28lber caught as well as a 22lb cod. A few lucky people had over 10 keepers and some only had one or two. If the giant doggies and hyper aggressive pout would have backed off, it would have been a banner day rather than a merely good day. Don't think I can make next Tuesday, I can only hope for the weather to push a trip back later into next week.

I think 25-30 miles.  Far enough that we didn't have any rain and actually got enough sun to turn a bit red.
