Bass'n the Raritan
« on: May 25, 2011, 08:29:24 PM »
Left Keyport and started for the Kill. Read good marks near the # 19 . Anchored up and started to clam chum heavy . Not a touch .Heard that bait was hard to find at the kill , went straight to the Knoll.Chummed heavy there , and waited for the tide to swing .Nothing going on . Saw one fish ,from a a lot of other boats.Hit the clam beds, with the same results .Caught a 21" fluke on clam .There was a fleet drifting the Nude beach,so we joined them . We really weren't set up for fluking , but still managed to catch fish w/gulp and spro's.All small fish . Best day on the water, weather wise, this season.

We must have been bumping up on each other because I was all those spots and had the same results.  The fluke drifting brigade ourtside of Sandy Hook came and went fast.

Did a 3-9 PM trip on a NS boat tonight.
Clamming in the Raritan.
Skunk for my group of 4.
About 16 on board and only 3 bass and a keeper fluke.
Beautiful weather...poor fishing.

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.
