I have not heard to much coming from the bay lately as many of the guys are trying out the hook.  Right now with the storms going through in the past few days it is anyone's guess.

By tomorrow the grass and brown water should have calmed down enough to make fishing the ocean a bit more angler friendly.

I will be at IBSP in the AM I hope it is better than today.

Happy Catching

Fished out front for the last 4 hours of tonights incoming in LBI.  Held with 6 and not a touch of grass.  It cleaned up pretty quick.  No action for me though.

Sorry Rod I forgot the radio today.  There were a ton of boats north of the inlet and it looked like most were drifting and I saw one boat pulling in fluke so they were catching.

We did okay as well I will wright about it in the weekly article later.

Let me let you in onsomething; don't think the rivers and bays ate done as they are still holding plenty of bass! Also, the storms and constant south winds are putting a damper on the surf guys!  The boat guys are slamming the bass because the bunker have not been pushed to the beach that much yet (wind direction) Look for an EARLY morning bite. The bass are on bunker "inside the pockets" ........  ;)   by 8am or sooner the bunker are out of reach, again it depends on wind direction and this weekend looks like it is gonna be south again  >:( >:(

whs good time to have a new born at home.  grtn.  It gives me the shakes when I hear of bunker jumping onto dry sand to get away from hungry bass and I'm stuck at home

Even though yesterday was slow bass in the park were still being caught and the closer you got to the inlet the better your chances were on using clams.  The beach was just covered with empty shells due to the storms which means that the striper's are feeding on clam candy.

Being there yesterday and yes I have to agree the bite was an early one as usual but the quality of bass being caught this year are exceptional.  Stopped to pick up bait at a local B&T and there was a nice 35" 15+# bass on the scale.  Sweet.

The inlet right now is just loaded with blues in the 3 to 4# size and guys are starting to switch over to strictly bottom fishing for fluke.  I have not seen one caught but there are rumers that the bite will be on  soon.

The back bays are also hot.  If anyone has access to a kayak or canoe try and get out to the sedge islands just to the east of IBSP the pockets there are holding some nice bass.  In fact if you can get out to the mud channel (I was told) there is a smorgasbord of fish being caught there as well.

This time of year the whole place is teeming with life as they migrate to their summer feeding grounds.  It is a great time to be a surf rat.  Just pick your time wisely and I am sure you will be able to catch.

AS of yesterday I was holding with 3 to 4ox of lead.  the water was clean as all the grass is gone.  Plus the temps have gotten to the point that I did not even have to don the waders.  Shorts is the way to go.  That is my style of fishing.

Happy Catching guys

Paul
