With the winds finally slowing Tom and I made one of rare Saturday trips on Sandy Hook Bay looking for our favorite flatfish. I noticed the ramp at Atlantic Highlands Marina was not busy as we pulled out of our slip at 7AM and headed for our Fluke grounds with very few boats around, maybe gas prices are having an effect on the fishermen. Fluke fishing was slow at first then picking up as the tide slowed, Tom landed the first keeper at 21" then followed with an 18" Fluke. I managed one at 20" with another at 18" before heading back in at noon. The wind was just what is called for a good drift speed, with clouds all morning and a chill in the air with little sunshine.Kilies are getting hard to come by in the local creeks.
