Has anyone ever used baby spot for bait? If so what type of fish were you targeting? How did you fish them? Thanks for any advice!

Hi njddevil,

One of the best baits around, until, like everything else, they sort of disappeared.

Great bait for just about all species ...

If you find a plentiful place to catch them or know of a shop that has them, please PM me.

To anyone who is looking for baby spot, I just got back from a weeks vacation in Cape May, Jim's Bait and Tackle just at the entrance of Cape May has a sign advertising live baby spot. Hope it will help but I think it may be a little far south for any help.

H njdevil,

GREAT info ... without you posting, none of us would know.

If I get down their to fish, now I know a shop and a shop owner who nows good bait.

If I was in a tournament that mattered, I would drive the 2 hrs. each way to get them.

Many thanks and continued successful catching,

Capt. Ed

:(Fished every morning , up at 4:30, fishing by 5:00. Fished the surf in front of my in-laws condo{next to Uncle Bills Pancake House}and at Sunset Beach. Only caught two small blue fish all week, fished all lures and everything in the box, metal, bucktails, pencils and soft plastics, only metal produced. Going back for another week starting August 18. Going to try one pole with bait and another with lures. Hope to try squid, crab, and baby spot. Last year same week produced weeks, blues, small striper's, sea robins and rock bass. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can repeat that this year. If anyone has a different spot to surf fish in Cape May or a different bait to try please share the news.

OK guys one more question, has anyone ever used sand fleas for bait? Kids dig them up by the pail full on the beach. How do you hook them and how would fish them? Something out there must have sand fleas on their menu.

Hi njdevil,

YES!

Again, great general purpose bait for almost all species including fluke and stripers.

We had a ball with them at IBSP yesterday,
