Florida middlegrounds
« on: June 15, 2011, 05:12:07 PM »
I have not been on in a while but thought I would add a post about fishing the Florida Middle Grounds in the Gulf of Mexico. I run on the Florida Fisherman out of Hubbard's Marina. We left June 10 on one of our 39hr long range trips fishing about 110 miles up in the middle grounds. We started fishing around 2 am and by 10 am we had a 2 day boat limit of red snapper on board and most of the boat limit of mango snapper. When the sun starting getting high in the sky snapper bite slowed down and we started working on putting red grouper on the boat. During this period we caught well over 100 gag grouper and numerous amberjack that had to be put back due to the closures NOAA has on us. About dusk dark we made te last stop of te day and finished off the 2 day mango limit before we started the run home. It was another great trip wit perfect weather and the fish gods smiling on us. If any of you ever get to the west coast of Forida we would love to have you look us up.
