Offshore Charter Advice

Hey Everyone,

 Im a new member to this site and a newbie to the world of anglers and would appreciate a little guidance. I reside in Toms River and I am interested in scheduling a charter trip out of barnegat inlet to the canyon region during the weekend of september 11. I have approximately 10 people who are in attendance however neither of us have ever gone out on a charter. We are interested in an overnight trip. Can anyone provide any feedback about past experiences, tackle, captains?? Thanks Guys, I appreciate the advice!

 ..  Welcome..  What I will say for starters.. is I don't think an Over Night Canyon Trip.  would be a good choice for a first trip..

I agree with Rod with the following exception

You do alot of other fishing through out the year and have good/great sea legs for a 30+ hr offshore trip....Trip is long...unlike a 1/2 day fluke trip....100 miles out the capt. isn't coming home cause somebodys tummy hurts....if you know what I mean....Def not a trip for beginners.......

yeah just ask my wife who has been out on my boat plenty of times as well as many others...she is fine within 25 miles of shore....past that invisible line of "offshore" and she is either in the head or in the bunk...Not for a beginner maybe a 12hr offshore trip? that way if you get sick your not miserable foreverrrrrr....just my .02

Thanks for the guidance. What are your suggestions for a 1/2 day trip? From my experience with surf fishing and fishing interwaters, Im looking forward to catching something that I can actually keep?

there are tons of great inshore sponsors on this site...fluke is really happening right now and is great to eat as well as seabass and striped bass are still being caught...really its a open door as to "what do you want to catch?"...Maybe try a mixed bag trip on a party boat and see what you enjoy before throwing down a larger sum of money on a private charter...again just my .02
