SHARKS IN THE SURF 2011?
« on: July 23, 2011, 11:49:11 AM »
The AUG 14 2010 Shark Night was a good time last year. Is there any chance that it will be repeated this year...hopefully with better fishing conditions?  chrz
Cheers!

Not sure what is going to happen this year.  Ken Surfrocket I think has his hands full as his wife Lori is due soon.  Plus if t happens...his heat does not break soon not sure what will be going on.  We were over at the park this morning early and the flies were so bad we were home with in the hour.  So maybe this year it will be a hit or miss thing.

Lets see what happens...

Happy Catching

Kenny had 2 off the surf last week real quick.  We fished together the day after that, and had an insane runoff on what had to be a shark, and beached about a 40 lb. cownosed ray.  The water temperatures out front have dropped, bringing the shark bite down too I hear.

Even if not a "Sharks" night, it might be cool to do a NJSWF on the beach night.

Rod, Jay.....we'll talk.

Looking forward to another fun night whenever you guys decide. Planning on meeting some walk on friends at A-10 this Thursday evening. Hoping for some nice weather and maybe a fish or two.

I haven't fished the beach in a while. Last time I was out there, I lost my Staun deflators. Count me in, if the date works, I'll air down the old fashioned way. <'((((><
I've spent most of my life fishing, the rest I've just wasted     <'((((><

Keep in mind that Labor Day is Monday September 5th, and the following Sunday will be the 10th anniversary of 9-11.

All nighter or just a few good hours? Might want to check the tides as well to help with a possible date/time selection. <'((((><

I talked to JD about this yesterday.
It would be great to see a NJSWF gathering on the beach this year.  I can't commit anything at the moment due to stuff i got going on.  But date depending I'd definitely make an attempt.
Labor day is definitely out for obvious reasons...i.e. the park would be a madhouse.
Sept 10, or 25 would be the only other Saturdays I could do.  If we go August, I can do the 13th.

I am not sure how the tide chart from Seaside Heights reflects on IBSP. I don't even know which are the best tides for fishing but here are the Hi's and Low's for Seaside Heights for the 2'nd and 3'rd weekends in September.

Tides for IBSP are essentially the same as those listed for SSH.  t^

Any decisions yet? There is a good article in The Fisherman Plus special issue No.31 Aug.4, 2011 titled "Sharking the sands" by Chris Lido & Nick Honachefsky. Some good info & a SurfRocket plug. Read it and you might consider joining us for a night on the beach. For those of you that have never caught a shark, it's cool ! <'((((><

Surfrocket is a tad busy right now.  His wife Lori gave birth to Mia their baby girl the other day.  It sounds like all are doing well and I am sure Kenny will be on in due time.
