After losing 8/4 to weather we got out the last couple of days on some combo trips. These trips are ways about fun and keeping the rods bending and not loading the cooler with keepers. Just nice fun fishing and hopfully end the day with some fillets for a meal or two.
. On 8/5 it was Jim and his 2 buddies. The ocean had laid down nicely so the guys opted to give a near shore wreck a little jigging action for seabass. The first pass with the jigs resulted in 3 nice keeper seabass but also with 2 very sick crew members. Less than 10 minutes on the grounds and it was time to head to the bay. The guys enjoyed some real good action on short fluke and boxed 3 nice keeper fluke for a fun morning of fishing.
On 8/6 it was Ed E and with his wife and 9 year old son out on a combo trip. It looked like we would get a nice weather window early on the ocean before the winds came on. A run down the beach to a shallow water wreck close to the sand put the anglers on a nonstop bite of short and keeper seabass. The jigs never made it to the bottom before getting nailed. Of coarse Eds wife and nine year old son were catching all the keeper size fish as Ed reeled up empty hooks and weenines. The 3 anglers enjoyed very good fishing boxing 31 keeper seabass in the 13" to 14" range , a legal porgies and releasing a large number of shorts in only a couple of hours of fishinhg. By 9:30 am the writing was on the wall with the winds picking up so we headed to the bay. Fair to good action in the bay but no keepers for the crew. A few nice fish got dropped but it really did not matter as the smiles and laughs were all the same no matter if it was a fish ,crab or empty hook on the end of the line. It was a real fun day with a great family.
