Avet Spinning Reel HOAX!

A popular fishing site posted a few pictures of what was purported to be a new high end spinning reel from Avet with a retail price of $1400.  Several other sites picked up this rumor and posted them as well.

For the record, I contacted Captain George Valentini, VP of East Coast Sales & Marketing
Avet Reels, Inc., and he gave me the following statement:

"I can’t see the pic as I am not registered...but I can assure you it’s a hoax. Someone is just trying to create some stupidity over a spinning reel. When we do have the prototype ready for test there will be a release of some sort to the trade magazines etc."

Once again, you heard it here first!

Thanks for clearing that up Bob. I heard rumors about an Avet spinner,   and by that statement from Avet, it does sound like they are in fact working on one.  I hope it looks better than that reel in the phoney photo, some of the cool Avet colors that we have come to love would be nice. <'((((><
