Hi Hareball,

They have been here for a while.

Not sure about the exact water temp.

I snag them very close to the beach, believe it or not.

Hi Hareball,

I use the fluke migration as a rough indication as that is a large part of their diet from the continental shelf, what little research there is.

Thanks,

Ed

Hi Hareball,

I don't know about side scan but it shows up on my fishfinder. I never can confirm it by just the fishfinder itself. I used to jig for them more than I do now. Getting a bit lazy these days as I am using less and less squid for bait.

Thanks,

Ed

Bob remember to put them in a bucket over the side of the boat or you will have a big INK mess on the boat ;D

I was fishing Shrewsbury Rocks today.  More than one fluke spit up whole squid when landed.  They are around.

I was inked last year on a head boat. a buddy of mine is a part time mate when not commercial fishing. squid all over the water so he grabbed a squid rig and was next to me pulling them in and SOLAT!!

thanks for the tip! my buddy would kick my butt from one end of the boat to the other ;D
