New Penn "Spinfisher V" due out fall of 2012
« on: June 28, 2012, 09:39:48 AM »
Penn in starting to roll out info on a new reel due to hit the market in Oct. 2012.
It is the Spinfisher V series, the latest in the Spinfisher family that dates back to the old greenies.
The rumors mill claims it will be in the $200 range.  It has a lot of the features of the Conquer and Battle series and claims to be at least somewhat sealed.
Here's a link to Penn's page for the reel.  And as of today, there is an entry form for a give away.

i was checking them out this morning. on paper they seem impressive.

metal body, pretty generous line capacity's and sealed carbon fiber drag disks,  with some nice numbers to them.

my nitpick may be the weights of them. wee bit on the heavy side.

Nice find Chris.

After reading up on it, the smaller reels are maybe an ounce heavier than some of the competition, but I find it hard to believe it will be priced at $200 with what Penn is calling a "water-tight design" claiming it submersible.

Glad my birthdays in October

Nice find Chris.  I added the video in there.   t^

Looks like a tank.  Guess we will find out soon enough if it's all that they're making it out to be.

The price point was internet rumors, so  5hrug
But if it does hit shelves at that price, I'd try it.
It hasn't seen much use, but I like my Penn Battle so far.  And this looks to be a few steps up from that.

According to a Penn representative, the Slammer and SSG/SSM models are being discontinued.  So if you are a fan of those reels, keep an eye out for closeout deals and maybe stock up on a few parts.
The Conquer series will continue and pricing on those reels won't change.

As for the new Spinfisher V pricing, they are supposed to hit the market at:
SSV3500/4500 - $139.95
SSV4500LL/5500/6500 - $159.95
SSV6500LL/7500/8500 - $179.95
SSV8500LL/9500/10500 - $199.95
