Got out on the Cock Robin today. We were expecting some possibly rainy conditions today, but we never saw a drop. Weather wise, it turned out to be a beautiful day out there today.
As for fishing, well, there were some Albie's caught (although not by me). It was certainly not a day to write home about. Not awful though. I'd say there were, possibly, up to two dozen albies boated today. I had a chance on one Albert that I had hooked up for all of two seconds before coming unbuttoned. Other than that, I caught a few yellow eyed demons as well.
Fished with a terrific group of guys, some of which I hadn't met until today, including "Shrimpman" Steve and Ricky. And it was definitely nice seeing our old friend Bill Carroll again.
The captain and crew worked extremely hard to make it happen (and they are all great by the way), but the bite just never got hot. The current was almost nonexistent and the water quality was questionable. It seems Irene screwed up more than just the fluke fishery.
However, I was told by some of the anglers that this trip was an improvement over last week's. So, perhaps, the effects of the hurricane are finally dissipating and this fishing will continue to improve.
Hopefully it will, as right now I'm contemplating another one of these trips on the 30Th.
