Hi Bentrod,

Yes and Yes ...

I am a big fan of drifting reefs ... you get shots at Sea Bass and Fluke. If you don't care about the Fluke, drift until you locate an area and then anchor on it.

To be productive at seabass you should anchor on some sort of structure and payout or take in line to increase your catch.

Look at the structure on the fish finder..Its clear!!

how do you know the species of what your looking at..

alot of species have thier own heat patterns and that makes certain species stand out.

During a no drift condition when fluking I will find structure in the area and float over it.  With the no drift there is no need to anchor as you stay on the structure for at least long enough to catch some seabass.  When you get off of the structure slowly power back up to it again.

If you are in an area with a LOT of structure scattered all over, such as cement droppings on the reefs, you can drift and cover a lot of ground.  This works good at times as seabass will move around on this type of structure.

Anchoring for me comes into play when there is a concentration of fish on the structure and I am interested in ONLY seabass.

Either works, anchoring over structure is mst bang for the buck........when you are out fluking and there is no drift you can pretty much just hang over a structure with very little manuvering TT^
