Ditto on todays outing.
« on: September 28, 2011, 03:10:48 PM »
Well today started with my uncle and a friend of his both vets were on the beach catching some of the early season blues again.  The mullet are still running strong and you can see the schools in the wash as that would be the place to put your offerings.

I say wash because the blues are right at your feet and there are tons of them just waiting to be caught.

The beach is starting to winded out nicely after the storm and as it was a new moon last night the surf was up a little more than usual.  But everything is drivable and by the way the full length of the beach is now open so you can get on at Gillikens and drive all the way to the inlet on the beach.  Great time of year especially with 10+ miles of beautiful beach to drive on.

I have to say that the stripers are starting to show up more now as we get further into the Fall run so once you have had enough fooling around with the small blues try your skills on the bass.  Most of the bass I have heard of were caught on top water lures and mostly at night.

So get out there and make sure you support your local bait & tackle shops and not the big box stores.  These guys know their stuff and can put you on fish especially if they know you and know you support them.

One last thing, if you are into tournaments the Governors Cup is this Sunday check it out and if you are a member of the NJBBA come on down and help out and become a judge.  It is great fun and to see the eyes of the kids that enter with their families is priceless.

Oh yea, there is also a kids tournament in Seaside Heights this Saturday  this air head for got the full name but I am sure if you get onto the Seaside Heights site it should be listed.

Happy Catching

Paul

Kenny, if this is any indication of what the rest of the Fall season will be like, My sore bones will be sore for a long time.

Whatever, it looks like a great season that is shaping up.

Happy Catching

Nice, Paul.  Sounds like you had a fun day.   t^'

With all the action popping off up in Montauk, I don't think the run has even kicked off down here yet.  We should see some good action as the bass work their way down.  I'll be up in Montauk next weekend to try my hand up there.  Pretty psyched about the trip.  >:D

Kenny!  Let me know!  I'd love to hit the surf with ya!

For the record.  I don't know one "Small Tackle Shop that supports us. or has ever donated to the banquet..  I like to support those that support us t^ Such as Dicks sporting goods t^  Just my 2 cents..

That's okay and I know Bob works for Dick's and I go there as well but for first hand knowledge of the area you will be fishing in, the local B&T's I always find works for me on my way out.  Besides, I don't think the big box stores are open at 4 in the morning for fresh bait, that is what I was getting at.

I can't forget Capt. Hippos.  and It's not that Bob works there.  Dicks has been very good to us.. t^  So when there is any Tackle Pluging..  That's who I like to see plugged t^

And yes I agree for the knowledge.  but also. a lot of them sell junk..

Dicks is a business who's main goal is to supply the "great outdoorsmen/women" with quality gear at a Competive price...They do more then that...they give you experiance, matched by NO other..with a huge selection of quality gear to tackle ALL of your outdoor needs...PERIOD....

The locals will sell you the same gear at a infladed price..they will tell you what you WANT 2 hear not...what you need 2 hear.....big difference...just  my sayin..... chrz
Why does it Matter to you? cause I could careless.........
