The Florida Middle Grounds in pictures
« on: October 18, 2011, 04:57:38 PM »
Guys, will be a little late with my Middle Grounds report this week. Will try to get it out Wednesday. In the mean time, take a look at what we did on the Friday trip:

 clp

And now the rest of the story:
Friday 3:00 P M:
The Florida Middle Grounds has been on fire all year long. Extremely good catches have become the norm. In fact, it looks like every week, every month, is even better than the previous. Captain Mark Hubbard, Hubbard's Marina, has been guiding the 39 hour overnight trips himself.
As John's Pass Bridge opens wide, the Florida Fisherman ll glides under the wide open Bridge, and immediately heads North West. Excitement has already reached a fever pitch. Will this trip, once again, produce the thousands of pounds of fish to which we have become accustomed? Only time will tell.
The story in pictures:

42 excited anglers leave for a 39 hour trip to the Florida middle Grounds:

We munch out on veggies & burgers:

Tammy reaches the big 50:

Tammy demands only the freshest chicken for her chicken & yellow rice:

First mate, Will, gives a how to seminar:

Will gaffs our fish:

With so many fish to gaff, everybody gets in on the act:

When Tammy is not cooking, she gaffs for us:

AJ's were big & hungry:

Professional mate, Joe, is proud of this huge king fish:

First mate, Will, just gaffed this big gag:

Proudly, once again, we welcomed Captain Garett Hubbard; this time a fisherman:

We caught a bunch of American reds:

Big mango and vermilion snapper were plentiful:

Log Book records are sent directly to NOAA. They know what is really out there:

A tired, very hard working, Joe, is proud of our catch:

Not bad for fishing in between two low pressure areas:

Distributing thousands of pounds of fish is a real job:

Capt. Those are amazing pictures. I cant believe the amont of fish you guys land each and every trip.

Must be some thing else out there with the beautiful water{ours is dirty, thats where "dirty jersey"comes from. The awesome Boat cooked meals you have{we have wawa subs and twinkies lol} And the amount of keepers you get{we catch that many shorts but by a half inch}.

Any way another Great trip you put together again. chrz

I must admit our waters are beautiful. It is a real thrill to see
huge fish coming up in the crystal clear water. We first see them from way, way down deep. As they get closer & closer...bigger & bigger, the excitement level is off the chart!
FOOD: Our Florida Middle Grounds trips are 39 hours long. Tammy, our NJ transplant, keeps us stuffed the entire trip. She is an amazing chef, a real credit to both the States of New Jersey & Florida. Well done NJ, well done! Trying to choose which food is the best is next to impossible; Tammy is that good of a chef. Her burgers are hard to beat; for dinner, I do not know if I like pot roast, or good old Southern chicken & yellow rice better.
We in the Sunshine State would be honored to have our Northern neighbors from the Garden State join us on the Florida Middle Grounds. Help me decide which food is the best. Talk about a win, win situation. Bob H. A very stuffed fisherman.  clp
