Hi Guys - here's the weekend recap from Friday and Saturday. We didn't make it out today because it is blowing hard NE down in Delaware.
Friday - We sailed with a light crowd of local regulars. Weatherman threw use for a loop and ended up blowing hard northwest. We ended up spending most of the day with Gale - she made things real interesting. On top of the wind, we had a screaming current and dirty water coming out of the bay. It was a sluggish bite and high hook ended up with only 4 keepers. Not much size either as the biggest fish only went 4.5 lbs. It was a tough day all around to say the least.
Saturday was a different story. We left with a full boat of 25 people with no wind. Decided to steam 30 miles to the ESE and fished some wrecks in 85-95 ft of water. No anchoring conditions to start but big fish started climbing right away. Wind shifted and went light and variable, we had to adjust the boat a bunch of times re-anchoring, but the bite continued.
Story of the day Saturday was big fish. Pool winner 16.4 lb blackfish, we had another 18 fish that ranged from 8lbs up to the 16.4 lbs pool winner. High hook had 6 keepers and the fishing would have been even better if we had some better anchoring conditions. The rest of the keepers caught on the boat were between 3-6 lbs. We broke off a bunch of slobs too.
We are planning a special trip on Friday February 17th where we will be targeting BIG fish. The trip is leaving at 5am and returning ? We are limiting the trip to 18 people and it will be $165 per person. Give a buzz and come on down to get out fishing with us.
Thanks guys - check out the pics of some of the big fish we caught today below.
