Long Island Fluke 8/19, Captree
« on: August 19, 2007, 08:30:30 PM »
Had a nice day with some friends on the Fishfinder which is one of my favorite Captree party boats.  We caught about 30-35 fluke but managed only a couple of keepers.  If we had the same fish in NJ we would have limited out. The majority of our short fish were between 17-19".  This 19.5" limit has been very tough and I know its not going to get better.  I'm thinking of taking a trip down to NJ before the season closes but I bet I'll catch a ton of 16-16.75" fish when I come down there.  Seems to always be that way. Nevertheless, we had a ton of fun jigging those fish.

Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.

Good report Crabcake.  That size limit does suck.  And here all along I thought they made a limit so the fish could reproduce, which is the way it should be.  Having different size limits certainly does not fit into that criteria.  Just a bunch of know nothing imbeciles making these regs.

Limit has been effect for the entire 2007 season.  I guess our saving grace is that we can fluke fish right through the Fall. If tropical fronts don't screw things up, we should get a nice run of big fish in mid-September right through early October.
