First off I did not compare people who need help to animals. All that was said is learn to take care of your self.

Yes people need help, but I am sure if you ask anyone if they know of someone working the system, they do know at least one person if not more.

I feel bad people who lost their job and it is tuff to make ends meet. But why should I (everyone who pays taxes) foot their bill. Help? Yes but get a job! If you want to work you can get a job. You may not like it or like the money you get paid, but at least you are trying.
If you really can’t work that is a whole different story.

The economy took a crap and that stinks. But why should I give money to people who wanted a big home and now it’s worth less?  Pay your bills or sell it and move on.

I have a friend who was hurt bad at work and was messed up for years. Yes we should help someone like that.
But… 10 years later the government is still giving him and his kid’s money. He moved to Texas and now owns a ranch where he has horses and cows. He works his ranch and charges others to keep and take care of their horses.  Seems to me if you can work a ranch, you can take care of yourself and family.
Why should we have to give him money?

As said in other topics on this board, I am stating my opinion which I am entitled to just as anyone else is.

i believe everyone who gets some form of assistance from any gov't or a state agency should have to take a drug test every 2 weeks to qualify for their next check.

i'd bet that would save us millions,,,,,,,,

Since they started drug testing welfare recipients in Florida only about 2% tested positive for drugs.
http://www2.tbo.com/news/politics/2011/aug/24/3/welfare-drug-testing-yields-2-percent-positive-res-ar-252458/

Because some people abuse the system, it doesn't mean those most folks who need assistance are bad people (or "animals" as Rick wants to compare them to).  It only means they might have fallen on tough times, especially when rates of unemployment and underemployment are so high.

Maybe we should have drug tested the bankers before we saved their asses.  Seems like it's OK to get a bailout when your rich, but if your a poor working class guy and fall behind a little and can't keep up with your bills, it's, "F you scumbag!  Work harder or get another job!"  As if good jobs are so easily found nowadays.

Right now, even though the economy is showing positive growth, there are still many who are struggling to find work.

Are there people gaming the system?  Of course!  But there are many other honest, decent people who, without some assistance would find it difficult to feed their families.

Why is it when times are tough, it's those who are having the toughest time that get picked on the most?

One article also states that  another 2% refused to take the test.  There are 119,080 Welfare recipients in Florida,  2,382  tested positive.
