South Branch Smallmouths
« on: March 20, 2012, 07:46:26 PM »
The past sunday me and three of my friends floated down the south branch river. My friend and I were in my 12ft duck boat i converted into a fresh water fishing boat. My other two friends were in there canoe. We dropped in at the opie bridge off river road in Hillsborough. Halfway between the Opie and the Studiford my one friend hooked up with a 1Lb smallmouth on a crawfish lure. Than right after my other friend caught a 2Lber on a shiner. It slowed down after that besides the 20 to 30Lb carp we seen swimming underneath every now and than. We floated all the way down to wear the North Branch and the South Branch become the Raritan river. We ancored up there for about a hour. I was throwing a rubber crawfish and hooked up with a fish. To my luck it spit the hook halfway to the boat. The last of our action was something taking a chunk out of my buddies large shiner. All and all it was a great day to spend on the river.
Why can't we fish 5 days a week and work 2!

Way to go jake t^ t^
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.
