Hunter 2, Raritan Bay eve 4/20/2012
« on: April 21, 2012, 10:45:10 AM »
After a battle with traffic coming home with coworker Scott W, I pulled out of Keyport at 5:30pm. Scott G and Scott W made up the crew. The wind was blowing South east at a steady 7mph and I was skeptical that we would hookup with the south blow. I had some intel from some NJSWF members that the morning bite was tough and I contacted Dan"Reel McCoy" on the VHF and he had not landed any fish yet. We trolled a Stretch 30 and a 25 from the buoy 26 down to the 16 in the Reach. Moved to the great beds area and trolled the Wards point channel and secondary channel. The sun was starting to set so I ran down to the 18 again and decided to troll towards Keyport. We switched over to two stretch 25"s white/red and yellow green and were in 18' of water a slack high tide. The port rod went down "yellow green"and Scott W reeled in a 33" Striper. We circled the area and marked plenty of fish hugging the bottom but had no more takers. Scott W has caught many species of fish before from Sailfish to Tarpon but this was his first Striper. We got back to the marina by 9pm and called it a day. Good Luck,, Eddie TT^

Also the Stripers stomach was empty,,
