5-6 bass and fluke.
« on: May 07, 2012, 11:18:54 AM »
Left the dock nice and early and spent a little too much time netting bunker by the CS. Went right down south even with some intel of clamming in the bay being good. Got to the rocks and let out some livies on some marks. We had a bunch of picky fish but landed a 20lber and spent bunch of hours on good readings but the fish were picky. Got another 18lber on the deck but it was scary looking and we felt sorry for it so back it went. Looked like it got trapped in a net or something. The run offs finally stopped so we headed north stopping at some deepwater fluke spots to see if the big ones were there. Got some big sea bass but no fluke. Went to the hook to get out of the nasty wind and while I hate fishing the fleet around there we fluked anyway and glad we did. I got a nice fat keeper right away and some blues too. Had a double headers with 2 rods and that created a hell of a mess. Had to reel one line in by hand hoping it was a fluke. Another 2 blues but one bit off. Got a little tighter to the beach and and caught a 7lber. Some shorts and we got another keeper. 2 party boats came right in on top of us and the bite died. We moved around some but that was it. As we were about to head in we spotted tons of birds in the bay and bluefish mania commenced. We messed with them for 2 hours trying to get to any bass under them but no dice. They were on rainfish or anchovies.

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.
