Reel Class Fluke-Seabass 8/29

More improvement in the fishing today... Had Pat Luckey Sr. and Jr. aboard, as well as the McTigue brothers Brian and Terry.

Ran south again, fished the stretch off Bay Head to Chadwick.  Started off in deep water (68-77')on some snags about 3 miles off, and had a nice pick at first.  Some keepers made it to the box, and the fourth fish in the box was a beautiful fat fluke of a shade over 9# taken by Terry on a, you guessed it, squid and spearing combo.  After that drift died, we power drifted through the area, only to catch a few shorts, some seabass, and some skates/birds.  Made a move to the North to fish a wreck, and had a couple of shorts, a nice 4# fish by Pat Jr. on a bucktail, and a nice humpback seabass.

Went back to the original spot, more of the same w/ shorts and the like, so we moved off to another spread out snag and had some short seabass.

By noon, a little wind was kicking up so we headed inshore to fish a snag in the 50-65' range that we finished up yesterday.  Started with a slow pick of shorts and keepers, then, as the wind turned almost due E, we drifted right up the spot, and we had one lights out drift of drop and reel fluking, all on bait rigs, with another 8 or so keepers making it to the box, all but 2 were over 20".

That quickly ended once the SE wind kicked in, but we had a damn good day.  Finished with 17 nice fluke in the box, and a half dozen nice seabass.  Terry took the 2 big fish of the day at 9# and 6#.  Great trip, with some great fishermen!!!
